Shaw Artist Biography

Robert ShawContemporary Irish Artist

Robert Shaw b. Dublin, Ireland 1964

Robert Shaw studied Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire School of Art, Dublin, Ireland in the nineteen eighties. He has been painting full time for over 23 yrs.
He is originally from Malahide. Robert’s studio was for nine years situated high on the most easterly point of Howth head.

From here he was inspired by the land and seascapes that stretch as far as the mountains of Mourne in the north, to the coast of Wales in the east.
Today he paints at his studio in Donabate and paints plein air on the land and shores of Fingal and Brittany.

Robert has recently been honoured to be the first Irish artist in forty years to be represented by the esteemed Galerie Artis, Pont- Aven, France. This village is at the historical heart of post impressionist painting.

His almost 1800 catalogued paintings have been inspired by the landscapes and rich historical heritage of his native Fingal. His work hangs on walls and gallerys across the world and even in outer space.

NASA selected his ‘Beacon to new Dawn’ image to be stored as data payload onboard the ‘Osiriis Rex’ spacecraft.

He is honoured to have his paintings recently selected for the Fingal County art collection.
